Lately it feels like games are more laggy and have fps dips for example while playing overwatch low settings 144hz i have dips from 154 [display capped] to 120 constantly i dont understand why pubg stutters here and there low settings aswell

Specs:
i5 6600k OC @ 4.1 (using OC geine)
8gb DDR4 Ram 2133
MSI Z170-A Sli Plus motherboard
PSU RM550X 80 plus gold Corsair
GTX 1070 FTW stock speeds

Solution
simply put, 4 threads are not enough for smooth gameplay in quite a few modern games. especially for those high refresh rates.
you can manually overclock the CPU to 4.5Ghz or may be even higher depending on the cooling. it will somewhat improve things.
also make sure to close everything but the games while playing as 8GB is not that much.

What has changed?? You say lately it is laggy.

One possibility is that windows 10 has pushed a less than optimal graphics driver update to you.
I might download the current driver directly from nvidia.

Overwatch apparently has very low cpu requirements like even the recommended is Intel® Core™ i5 or AMD Phenom™ II X3 or better

You might want to do your 6600K overclock in the bios.
Unless you have a dog chip, I think you can do better than 4.1
