i5-6600K + Asus P7P55D Motherboard

Hello!

Planning on upgrading my pc with a new CPU.
I'm planning to get a Intel i5-6600K. My only problem is that I don't know if it works
togheter with my existing motherboard. An Asus P7P55D.

If it doesn't work. Please give recomendations for a better motherboad too.

You need socket 1151, that's 1156.

Any Z170 motherboard would do. ASUS Z170-X series (K, A, etc.) are nice ones imo

You should upgrade your mobo because that mobo is too old. What is your budget? I'll see if i can find one within your budget.

not a "should" upgrade it, but rather a "have to" upgrade it for the newer chip. they are not compatible and won't work together.

it's also a ram upgrade as the new intel cpu's use ddr4 ram and not ddr3, though there are a couple that will run ddr3 released. not worth using it though as ddr4 is plenty cheap enough as well

If you don't like any of these motherboards then you should look for a motherboard with the 1151 socket and judging by your budget a z170 Chipset.
