Hello community,

today I wanted to overclock my i5 6600k but ran into a strange issue:

my settings:
- sync all cores
- bclk: 100mhz
- bclk spread spectrum: off
- multiplier: 42
- voltage: fixed to 1.25
- turbo boost: off

But those settings didn't change anythig, the cpu speed stayed at 3,5ghz
In programs like prime95, cinebench and various games - no difference to that.

I noticed that CPU-Z displayed this: Multiplier: x 35 ( 8 - my current multiplier). So when I chose 42 CPU-Z displayed: x 35 ( 8 - 42 ), with 36: x35 ( 8 - 36 ).

So my settings were accepted by my system but that didn't change the cpu speed at all.

Am I missing something crucial or is my cpu / motherboard broken?

Thanks in advance!

I'm far from an expert on overclocking, but it sounds like some sort of software issue, you could try updating the BIOS or resetting the CMOS and retrying the OC.
