i5 6600k oc issues

Hey, I'm trying to oc my new i5 6600k on a gigabyte Z170x UD3 but unfortunately I'm getting blue screen passing the 4.3ghz, then when I try to raise the voltage a little to help stabilize the 4.4ghz oc the pc start to crash everytime even on bios. I'm doing something wrong? new to all this oc thing.

Not all chips are created equally. I was able to obtain 4.4GHz with an offset voltage of +0.03v so it boosts up to said overclock when needed. around 1.3v-1.32. Play around with it for a bit and see what your chip can do. try a 44 multiplier with 1.3v not stable? add increments of .01

It normally means you have reached the maximum that cpu can overclock to in frequency or Mhz.

In some cases if you have touched the base clock speed set at 100Mhz as default for the cpu and the memory modules fitted to the system.

Then it can be the fact that the ram or memory speed it is set to by setting the base clock over the default setting of 100Mhz is the problem.

If the case, other than just changing the Cpu multiplier value to overclock the K series I5 6600K cpu.
You should lower the set selected frequency of the memory or ram of the system.

Example 2400Mhz lower it to 2200Mhz.

Once done try the set multiplier value again.
See if the system becomes stable again.

With the lower memory speed selection for the ram.

thanks krzy the problem was that I was just using 1.260-1.280v, I'm stable now at 4.4ghz 50ºc at 1.335v full load, do you think I can push it to 4.5?

Change the multiplier to 45 and see if it's stable with your current voltage.

How well you can oc a 6600K will be determined by your luck in getting a good chip.

What percent can get an overclock at a somewhat sane 1.40v Vcore.

I5-6600K
5.2 <1% delidded
4.9 14%
4.8 38%
4.7 67%
4.6 87%

The key is vcore.

I suspect you can do better.
Once you are stable, implement adaptive voltage and speedstep.
That will reduce the multiplier and consequently the vcore when the cpu has little to do.

hey, sorry for the late reply (was on a family trip) so far testing a lot I noticed something wierd, when I set my Vcore on like 1.3v then go and test the stability I see that my current vcore is at 1.27 is there anyway to fix this ? I'm using a gigabyte z170x UD3.

I think that is vdroop.
Under load, the motherboard may not supply the full voltage.

I try to mess up a lit with the LLC and now I can have a 4.5ghz at 1.32v but from time to time when I shut down the pc or a force restart the bios will change my settings to the previous stable ones, any idea on that?

settings get reset if system crashes.
always save your settings and save multiple with minor tweaks.
4.6ghz should be obtainable on all cpus.

adjust
core multiplier to 46
uncore multiplier to 39-45 but never at same speed as core.
set vcore to 1.35 no more than 1.4 depending on your cooling system. as long as it doesnt peak above 80c its all good.
check dram settings. insure voltage and XMP enabled

adjust load line calibration to high. +
check windows advance power settings,
Process power management
Minimum processor state: 100%
turn off all sleep
if you like.. you can also turn off all c state modes
