i5 6600k running slow after i installed it.

I installed my if 6600k and my motherboard is compatible I uograded from a i5 6400 2.7ghz. with the new processor in it runs extremely slow, I took it to the computer shop multiple of them told me the cpu I bought is good I just need to change the clock speed of the motherboard, could this be the case?

Can you list your full system's specs inclusive of OS? Might want to pass on the before and after specs for us to get a comparison. On that note, did you make sure your BIOS is up to date? While you've backed up your critical content and reinstalled your OS?

intel core i5 6400 2.70ghz
B150m Pro-D motherboard
8gb DDr4 ram.
I took it into 2 computer places as my regular guy is on vacation. they both told me that the cpu is compatible with my motherboard but don't want to change any clock speeds in my motherboard. they said its still said to run my 6400i5 2.7ghz
