[SOLVED] i5-6600K vs i7-3700k

Hi, i was watching a YouTube video of a guy playing gta in vr, it was a mod. His specs were gtx 1060 6gb, and a 17. 3700k, I wanted to replicate his build (as I am new to pc building ) and i saw a computer with the same specs for a bit cheaper with a i.5 6600k in it instead of the i7 3700k, I looked it up and know the i7 has more threads but that's as far as my knowledge of a difference goes, if I got the i5 version would that version be basically on par with the i7 build? And what would the 2 extra threads do? Thank you
