I know there are many threads for this but none of them gave the answer of DX12.So should I buy i5 6600k which I will overclock or an i7 4790(k or non k) which I won't overclock. Also can you mention there how long will they be able to run games on low settings 720p.Will the i7 highly benefit and will the i5 6600k OC'D to 4.3 be able to match the i7.

(Irrespective of PSU and cooling please tell)
Thanks.

DX12 is CPU scaling up to 6 cores, so the extra 2 threads that the i7 series can no doubt help versus the 4 physical cores from the i5, but you are still pulling on hyperthreaded threads, and not actual cores. So your performance may vary depending on the game with that, but your OS should be able to run fairly well on just 2...

i7 4790k with a hyper 212 evo is best imo., even if you dont overclock.

But i5 4690k will do just as GOOD if you just want to game,But yeah you need a a Graphics Card,..you can go cheap by buying a i5 4690k/i7 4790k and running on the integrated graphics for awhile, but buy a GPU as soon as you can afford it.. amd r9 280 or higher or gtx 960 nvidia or higher on the nvidia side.

Z170 platform is too pricey atm

Also GPU = better gaming experience., so the better the GPU

You can also overclock the locked Skylake CPUs now with ASRock Z170 motherboards and other Z170 motherboard manufacturers. So I would save some money and go for one of the locked Skylakes and overclock it. An overclocked i3-6100 matches a i5-6600k at stock speeds on current DX11 games.

I'm gonna buy gtx 970 or an r9 390 so no bottleneck.
Guess I'll be going for i5 6600 as its 120$ cheaper here and just saw that my monitor and PSU stopped working so the money will be going there.
