Hello all,
I know this has been done a few times but I would like the best advice as to what to get. Best value for performance.
I am thinking to get a i5 6600k or i7 6700 non k with msi z170 Gaming Pro Carbon with DDR4 2666.
I would use it for movies, music, browsing online, a lot of gaming and few programmes when needed for work. I am a test analyst so Some of the programmes are QTP, Selenium, quality center 12. With these programmes I would run scripts to test web pages.
Currently I use my i3 2100 which isn't bad. It actual runs quicker than my laptop given to me from work. I don't use my i3 all that much for work. I have noticed that the i3 2100 does struggle with some modern titles. I am thinking to go with the i5 6600k as I game more then I do work on it. Whenever I run my scripts I usually don't do anything much else on the pc, maybe watch a movie while the scripts run. I hardly multitask. So which cpu would you recommend and why. Please provide me with much detail as possible. Appreciate any feedback guys.

If you're okay with the performance on the i3 with the work software. The 6600k will be better oced than the 6700 in most games. If you don't plan to oc then go with the 6700 and get a cheaper h170 or b150 motherboard (z chipset basically just allows overlooking and sli) to save a few more bucks
