Hello everyone, ı have cpu problem. When ı play games like PUBG-APEX my cpu usage mostly using on %100 percent but my gpu usage is variable. It usually fluctuates between 50% and 99%. I tried to underclock my gpu but it didnt help me. Still my cpu using on %100 percent, gpu using on %80-99 percent. Whenever I watch the test videos of the GTX 1050Ti and the i5-7400 processor, I see that they are running smoothly without any bottlenecks. If you have anything to suggest to me, I would appreciate it if you let me know.

Pc Specs:
GPU: GTX 1050Ti
CPU: i5-7400
RAM: 16Gb Cl16 2133mHz
MDB: Lenovo B250 (36D9)

What are your temps of everything, CPU and GPU. Also do you have anything in the background that may be consuming so much CPU, can see this with Task Manger and pinpoint what is using it by looking at the processes tab.

If temps are fine, run a virus scanner, something like Malwarebytes, its free, works well, no need to pay, once it scans and if it finds nothing, you can uninstall it.

The CPU should stay under 100C, it will throttle its clocks at around 100C, ideally you want it at 80C and below, GPU is around the same.

Good Luck!

I tried but it didnt solve problem.
My cpu usage under %10.
To me your problem is either:

1) Your 7th gen 4 core/thread CPU is no longer enough for these games.
2) Your system is underperforming for some reason, such as malware or throttling ect...

It would be helpful to know if the CPU is running at it's full potential, I would run Cinebench R23, confirm the clockspeed while it is running (this will tell us if it's declining below it's base frequency) and also confirm that the score is roughly around where an i5 7400 should be performing.

Okey, i will use Cinebench R23 then i will share the results.

The result is Multi Core 3257pts, Single Core 851 pts. I dont know what this score means is it good or bad?

Cursory glance online for both scores tells me the processor is performing more or less within expectations.,
Then why ı'm getting cpu problem? I did everything but ı still can't found how to solve my problem. As i mentioned in my previous answers, when i look at the tests of those who use the same system as me, i observe that they are ok, but in the same situation, there is a processor bottleneck problem in my system.

Unless you have the same exact setup including what the software configuration is, you can't expect to have the same results as what you see online. For all I know, you have some background process that likes to hog up the system from time to time.

If you really wanted to make sure the hardware should perform where it should be, you need a system configuration that's as minimal as possible.

Are they playing the same game?

When at Windows desktop about 5 mins after booting and Windows has finished loading what is your cpu usage? Ideally you want <5%, if something else is hogging cpu resource you need to stop it.

Yep, ı'm look for PUBG tests. My OS uses under %5 percent of cpu. But if i open anything like Chrome or Edge cpu usage percentage goes to %30 percent.

Opening anything is a relatively CPU heavy action, depending on how much the app needs to initialize itself before becoming useful. But either way, 30% just to load a web browser, assuming it's not loading anything more than a single page, does seem like a lot.

In fact, most of the time I see the 30% usage value, it happens while watching videos.

Well in any case, if you're trying to figure out the issue of performance hiccups while in game, you can try the following in no particular order:
  • Make sure the computer is clean of dust
  • Update all drivers (when updating the video card drivers, select "Clean installation")
  • Go through the list of installed programs and remove anything you aren't using
  • Go through the list of startup apps in Task Manager and disable the ones you don't need
  • If you're running the application on a hard drive, try running a defrag or switch to an SSD
  • It may be worth considering replacing the thermal paste, but this only matters if the temperatures seem kind of high (i.e., 50C+ if not doing much)

You may be CPU bound at this point, you could try a fresh install of windows and drivers to see if that makes a difference, also, have you updated your drivers recently? If you wanted to swap out to a more powerful cpu you could move to a Xeon, you would need to make sure that your motherboard supports it, but you can get a Xeon E3 1200 V5 series cpu that'll get you roughly i7 6700 performance for less that 20 dollars. Most of the Xeon E3 1200 V5 series have hyperthreading, so avoid the 1220, 1225, and 1235L, or just select the hyperthreading feature.
