I5-750 question

I'm thinking about beefing up my current system to squeeze another year or two out of it. I was gonna add another second Radeion HD6870 and crossfire my video cards for a cheaper price then buying a newer card.

My motherboard (Gigabyte P55A-UD3 rev1) only supports crossfire in 16x/4x modes. Looking at intel's website for the i5-750 under expansion slots it says 1x16, 2x8. Does this mean that my processor can't handle crossfire in a x16/x4 formation?

It is the board that counts but running the X16 X4 crossfire is not recommended. I suggest that you get something like HD7870 and sell your used 6870 to offset the price.
