Hey guys, im using an i5 7500 and a gtx 970 for gaming, mostly playing overwatch, destiny 2 and pubg at 1080p, 80 hz.

My cpu (especially in destiny 2) seems to bottleneck my 970 which as far as i can tell it shouldn't do.
Im using an MSI GTX 970 4G with +150 on core and +100 on memory.
Playing destiny 2 with this google chrome tab open in the most intensive gamemode on my pc, max temps were about 65 degrees with 100% usage on all cores.
Gpu usage is usually around 80-100% usage.
Most annoying part, is my overwatch fps used to be more stable and higher with my old 1050ti, same cpu and 8gb of ram.
System specs:
16GB DDr4 2400mhz
Gigabyte b250m ds3h
i5 7500 (stock cooler)
antec earthwatts gold pro 550W
MSI GTX 970 4G Gaming
Samsung 960 evo 250gb boot drive
WD blue 1 tb hdd

From what you have said, this is what I can tell you,

Yes, the 7500 can be a slight "bottleneck" in your system, i.e. if you compare what a 7700k could do when paired with a 970. I assume with a much stronger cpu (something like a 7700k) in your system you can maybe expect to see a fps increment of around 10 to 15% (20% at max). And this is just to show you how far you need to go to actually make your 7500 seem like a bottleneck. So I wouldnt really call your 7500 a bottleneck.

Destiny 2 has been optimized to take advantage of available cpu threads. And in your case since its a 4c/4thread cpu (quad cores are still great by todays standards and 8 threads are ideal but in your case its just 4 threads), destiny is taking advantage of...

Destiny 2 has been optimized to take advantage of available cpu threads. And in your case since its a 4c/4thread cpu (quad cores are still great by todays standards and 8 threads are ideal but in your case its just 4 threads), destiny is taking advantage of all four threads (thats all your cpu has). Which is why the cpu usage is that high. You might have seen a lower cpu usage with a 8 thread cpu.

However, be assured that your i5 is not bottlenecking the 970! its a great cpu still. In fact I think its a great system you have there. But if you think your overwatch fps are lower than before, firstly make sure you have the updated drivers for your 970. Also make sure there arent other processes in the background that are hogging your cpu.
