Hello all.

I’m giving away my motherboard, cpu and gpu to my brother’s new build. For my new gpu, I’ve chosen the Sapphire Radeon RX 580 8 GB – I have a 1080p 75 Hz LG 23.8” Freesync IPS monitor, I’d like to take advantage of the technology. I use the pc for gaming (offline heavy titles, online games as well), and work, so that also includes some productivity. I need some help with the cpu and motherboard.

My current setup:
Intel i5 7500
MSI H170 PC mate
Kingston Fury 8GB DDR4 2400MHz
Zotac Geforce GTX 1050 Ti 4 GB
WD Blue 2TB 7200RPM
XFX TS 500W
NZXT s340
LG 23.8” 1080p 75 Hz Freesync IPS

I’m looking at the i5 8400 with a B360 motherboard or the Ryzen 5 2600 with a B450 motherboard.
If I go AMD, I’d like to overclock the cpu eventually, so the B450 motherboard should be a decent overclocker.

Prices for Intel cpus are increasing and there seems to be a shortage of supply where I’m at. I can manage to get the 2600x for the price of the 8400 somehow, if that’s worth looking into. On the other hand, I would have to get an X470 board for that cpu maybe, so that’s another premium that could get the price higher than the Intel option. My ram might not be fast enough for AMD to begin with, so I would also have to factor in new ram sticks.

Anyway, I'd like this sidegrade/upgrade to last at least 3 years. I'm open to other suggestions as well.

Looking forward to hearing your feedback!

Thanks in advance.
