Hey!
In the next 2 months or so, i'm going to opgrade my system. So i was thinking of getting a Noctua NH-D15 for an i5 7600k, which i'm planning to overclock to 4.5-4.8. Would the NH-D15 do the job or should i get something else?

Thanks! :)

A D15 is a hell of a lot of sink for a lowly i5. This is a cooler that's well capable of cooling even a stupidly power hungry FX9590, or an overclocked i7 6950x.

Of course it'll do the job.

It's not a bad choice, but it is a bit much if you were looking for value over raw performance. However, if you don't care about the cost, then it's a great choice since the low thermal load of an i5 will let you run the fans really slow to minimize noise output. Even better though, you'll have a very capable cooler that will outlive your CPU and will be able to handle any future upgrades to a more powerful processor.

I got an NH-U14S for it and even that was overkill but I had a big case, and wanted less noise. It's capable but half the weight of D15 and keeps it pretty cool. Depends on what you can get that D15 for I guess, and if you plan to keep it for future upgrades.
