I5-7600k vs i7-6700k

So I'm trying to decide which cpu i should get for vr and gaming. I want to get the i5 7600k bc it's cheaper but I've heard that it bottlenecks the gpu I have (gtx 1070) and that creates stutters so the alternative i was looking at is the i7 6700k which is better I know but it's alot more money than I want to spend. Is the rumors true/ is the bottleneck that noticeable especially since I'm going to be playing in 2k in a month or 2 or should I get the 6700k?

You can also consider the recently released 8600k for more longevity.

I would get a coffee lake gpu but id have to get a new motherboard and i dont want to do that

Also, the 6700k does not support some of the 4k features, inherently, by lack of design inclusion.

4K content streaming: 4K streaming is limited to Z270 boards and Kaby Lake CPUs, either because Intel only implemented full support for Microsoft’s PlayReady 3.0 in its latest chips, or because only the 7th generation family supports hardware accelerated decode for 10-bit HEVC. 4K playback also requires at least the Anniversary Update of Windows 10 and is currently only available via Microsoft Edge.
