i5-8400 and 1050ti or just i7-8700 Office work.

So my dad needs a new computer. He works mostly online and with PDF with maps and such.

So should he get an i5-8400 with a 1050ti gpu. Or just use the integrated cpu in the i7-8700?

Or maby just the i5?

Well....I think for looking at maps and pdfs etc....the integrated graphics will work fine.

....but if he's using some sort of program to create maps etc....then he might need more powerful graphics.

As long as he is not a CAD/CAM designer, gamer, or video content creator, integrated GPU will be more than enough. i5 will be plenty for all the tasks you mentioned.

You could use a Ryzen Athlon 200 ge for that kind of usage. Really cheap and good performance.

An i3-8xxx should be fine. Spend more on a larger SSD and 16GB RAM. Even a larger monitor would be a better investment for an everyday PC.
