Did my research and pretty much set on this coming from a 3570k @ 4.3ghz.

My trusty cpu has served me well since 2013 but I feel that now is finally the right time to upgrade. Having quite the bottleneck with my Strixx 1080 ti in some of the games that I play (GTA V, BF1, GR:WL) even at 3440x1440p.

Will be using my old Hyper 212 Evo for cooling. Memory will be Corsair Vengeance RGB 16gb 3000mhz. Got a pretty good deal on the RAM so I don't mind if it will be limited to just 2666.

Any thoughts before I pull the trigger? Should I consider the Ryzen 2600 if my usage will be mostly gaming/youtube/surf/movies?

Many thanks!

I would consider a 2600, as it can be overclocked, and has better multitasking ability. Gaming will be about the same, at such a high resolution. Going forward the multitasking ability will probably prove useful, though.

I was in the same situation to decide a cpu for gtx 1080ti .I researched a lot and decided to buy Rysen 2600 ( it can be over clocked with Ram hence beating 8400 by 10-20fps based on games ).Another reason I chose rysen bcoz of storeMI .it's really an awesome technology . Other reason is it's compatibility of am4 up to 2020 so the we can buy zen 2 and zen 3. I'm waiting for Asrock ab350 pro 4 to be arrived within this week . I'm going with crucial 3200 mhz 16-18-18 . I'm hoping to finish the build within next week . Again a consideration of threads . Those 6 threads on rysen will shine on games using more cores and threads in coming years since new games seems to be optimized in such a way .

agrees with logainofhades, keep in mind you need a AM4 upgrade kit, if you are planning to use for the hyper 212,
