I5 8400 Vs Ryzen 5 2600X for streaming?

I'm planning to stream some games, like starcraft 2 if possible, Osu!, total war shogun 2 and Crusader kings 2. Which CPU is the better choice?

Solution
Probably because the i5-8400 is a 6C/6T CPU, & the R5 2600X is a 6C/12T CPU. Game performance between the 2 should be similar enough, but if you're going to play & stream simultaneously you need more threads...which means the 2600X for the win.

Exactly.

1) Except for OSU that I don't know all the other games are single threaded and will run worse if not very badly on the 2600x
2) If you have decent upload speeds you can stream by using the iGPU or your discrete GPU which won't slow down your CPU at all.
3) Even if you want to use your CPU, 720/60FPS and 1080/30FPS don't need as much CPU power as people seam to believe, and those games using only one thread would leave plenty of cores for the streaming even for 1080/60FPS.

i5-8400 would be the better choice of the two,but for starcraft/total war even a higher clocked intel would be better.

You got to not even have played those games, depending on how big the battles SC and total war will run very badly even on the 4Ghz 8400 which is why I said that a higher clocked one would be better.
