[SOLVED] i5 8400

SO i am going to buy a i5 8400 and a new motherboard with it. i have a gigabyte gtx 760 already and i was planning to keep using the gpu. Will one of these be bottlenecked? and right now i have a hyper 212 evo with a cooler master fan and a nzxt fan 2 120 mm should i change for a corsair h60? or keep this cooler aswell.

8400 can handle stronger cards, 1080Ti for example, your 760 would still work though 😉

go with team Red mate, ryzen5 3rd gen are better than any intel i5. and they come unlocked and since you already have aftermarket coolers you can overclock them too. there is no point of going with i5 8th gen unless you getting it used and for dirt cheap price.

Not with 8400 anyway. K versions are unlocked, meaning, can increase the multiplier for higher clock speeds. There's more to it though for stability reasons. Imho, the automatic turbo every cpu comes with is good enough most times.

8400K is ok it wont bottleneck your graphics card. Since you dont overclock you might go for the 8400 non k variant. If budget was disclosed we could think a better option too.

There is no "K" version of the 8400.

The Ryzen 3600 would be a better choice and if you are carefull should bending pins be no problem. Lettting the 3600 run on it's it's own turbo clocks would be fine,no special need for overclocking.
The Hyper 212 will probably not fit on this one if not recently bought but you'll have to check the box if you still have it.The stock cooler that comes with it will for now be fine.

As said wil the 8400 be fine with your current gpu and will do as well with more powerfull ones

The H60 wil do fine and from the looks of your case is 120mm aio all you can use.

I went with the Ryzen 5 3600 and i had to upgrade my gpu. so i went with a rx 560 so it wouldnt be bottlenecked until after i get more money i am gonna get a rx 580

Don't think that the 560 is much of an upgrade or even at all so is the gtx 760 broken? If not just hang on to it untill you can afford something truly better.
