hey guys! i need your advice. i have opportunity to switch from my current motherboard/CPU, which is i7 3770 16gb ddr3 1600mhz 4x4gb to newer mainboard with i5 8600 16gb ddr4 2666mhz 2x8gb configuration.

am i gaining a lot? i7 3770 vs i5 8600 ? ddr3 vs ddr4? am i going to see improvements in game performance?

the GPU is MSI GTX1060 6GB gaming X

thanks in advance.

Yes you are, however you should also look at a comparative Ryzen system such as the Ryzen 3600, B450 Mobo and 3200mhz DDR4 RAM and see if the price is better.

Ryzens are awesome. But i already got the parts and i'm just not sure if i wanna make switch, cuz i gotta reinstall window10, all my apps games etc. i actually paid about same, for mainboard, i5, 16GB, evo 212 heatsink.

You need to reinstall Windows with either upgrade, you should always plan to reinstall Windows with any motherboard change.

The 8600 is a much stronger cpu than the 3770. However how much difference this will make is difficult to say, it depends very much on the game and how cpu limited you are today in that specific game. A 1060 6GB is a decent 1080p but unlikely to fully utilise the extra performance from the 8600.

It’s a bit odd to ask when you already have the parts. It’s a decent upgrade but personally if you had of asked before getting the parts I too would have recommended a Ryzen setup as I just feel it’s better than any i5.

i just replaced everything last night lol, seems stable and everything is working after drivers were installed.

one thing i noticed, after shutdown, later on after couple of hours i turn PC on and case fan spin at full speed, CPU temps starts at 50c-55c, and then in minute aprx. comes down to 32 idle, and fan slow down.
maybe something not right with termal and heatsink ? or thats normal?

i dont remember if my I7 3770 doing same.
