IDK I haven't heard that and can't imagine it to be true unless it's a software issue, in which case it will be fixed very soon. The R5 1600 and 8600K are in completely different price categories as the 8600K will cost ~$100 more when you consider the more expensive mobo you need to buy to overclock, not even sure if they're really that comparable. For i5 8400 vs R5 1600, I'd say it's a tossup. Both are good choices the 8400 will just be lower maintenance and have better optimization in older titles. 8600K looks really fast but it's a lot more expensive and priced really closely to the 8700 non-k which is annoying.
