I recently built my new PC and have some questions on what the ideal idle and load temps should be for my i5-8600k processor. My 8600k is paired with a Cryorig H7 cooler, in a Thermaltake Core G21 with 3 intake fans in the front and 1 exhaust at the back. Ambient temp is about 25-27C
Right now, my processor is running on stock settings. The only overclock I have running on my system is XMP enabled for my 3000MHz RAM. During light use (browsing chrome) my processor temp ranges from 45-50C. During load while gaming, it goes to about 65-71C. I attempted Prime95 blend test for only 5 minutes and one of my cores reached a max of 86C at x41.0 multiplier, so I turned off the test, afraid of it going any higher.
I have never done overclocking before but intend to do some light OC on this new PC, but with these temps at stock settings I'm kinda hesitant. So if anyone who has the same processor & cooler as I do or with a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 (since it has similar performance to the Cryorig H7), I would like to know what your temps are. At the moment, I think my high temps could be due to bad thermal paste application.
