I5 8700k on Z270 krait gaming?

Hello

I built a pc last year and now i am gonna upgrade it i have intel i5 7400 processor on my z270 krait gaiming but is it possible that i can use i5 8700k with my z270 krait gaming because both processors are LGA 1151 i am asking because on my motherboard box it show 7th gen processor and if 8th gen is not compatible with my motherboard so can i update my bios to run 8th gen processor on my motherboard.

No such thing as an i5 8700k. The 8700k is an i7 and no it will not work on a 200 series board. The 8th gen cpus require a 300 series board. A bios update will not make it compatible. The best CPU the Z270 board supports is the 7700k.

Nothing wrong with an i7 7700k for gaming though. It's still a great gaming CPU and will be for the foreseeable future

Ok but it is possible to change processor after applying nzxt kraken x62 watercooler? Bc it have thermal paste pre applied and theres no extra paste came with it for future.

No it is not compatible with your board natively....that said some users have found work arounds since the pin layout count is the same. But you have to be ready to hack your UEFI to make it work. a quick google search of " i7 8700K on z270 krait gaming" will reveal ways to do this but as stated your looking at hacks so performance may not be ideal or stable. For native support you need a 300 series motherboard for 8 series CPUs like the i7 8700K

No i mean just upgrade to i7-7700k from my i5-7400. Thats it but what about watercooler?

I Don't know which paste is applied on my watercooler my i5 always run below 40 degree Celsius even on gaming and i don't wanna get high temperature .few days earlier my processor got over throttled idk whay lol then i purchased it.

Paste is cheap you can order some

Thermal Grizzly seems to be the best of the bunch right now, but it's expensive. Gelid Extreme and Arctic MX-2 are also good and might be cheaper. The prices will vary by location, but you should be able to find something for $5 a tube or so.
