[SOLVED] i5 9300h + 1660ti vs i5 11400 + 3050

Hello!

I'm looking for a gaming laptop that I can use when I go back home for holidays.

I'm torn between 2 options:

https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/produc...b-ssd-8gb-ram-geforce-rtx-3050-win10/15731997 (10400h + 3050 for 1000$) I know the price says 1100 but I bought it for 1k, thinking of returning.

The asus tuf that I bought has some bad reviews compared to the legion especially in terms of battery performance (but this wont be an issue because it will be at home always).

I mainly play WoW classic and games like csgo.

Any feedback is appreciated - in short, is the extra 50$ worth the new technology/slightly worse reviews?

The only big downside is less VRAM, 1660Ti also has a little more bandwidth thanks to the wider bus. RTX 3050 should be the faster GPU, and it comes with RT and Tensor cores that might be useful to you. But you still end up with the faster CPU. Older model also has a larger battery.

Guess it really comes down to the wattage appropriated for gaming performance. RTX3050 is available at 35W up to 80W. 1660Ti is basically available at 80W only. (Max-Q version is 60W) Sadly this information is pretty hard to come by, you would probably have to track down reviews.

If it was me I would pick the 11400H and 3050 despite the lower vram. The 11400H has more powerful cores and 50% more of them, it's a much better CPU. In terms of the games you've mentioned, both these laptops should do that just fine.
