[SOLVED] i5 9400f to i7 9700k Upgrade?

I'm trying to figure out if I should upgrade to the i7 9700k since its on sale for about $40 less right now.

All the forums I've seen online show that I would get about an 5-10 FPS increase depending on the game.

Is it worth it? Gaming wise not workstation. I don't edit videos or render anything.

DayZ, COD: MW Warzone, DBD, etc

Basically the first person/third person survival or shooters.

Not sure about Dayz or DBD but Warzone yes. Hexa core cpus are thread challenged in that game. 16GB is also recommended for this game if you're on 8.

I am on 16GB right now and I am going to upgrade to 32GB soon.

Yeah I will probably get it and just sell or use my i5 for another build.

Although it might not sound like a lot, most comparisons I've seen have the 9700K with a pretty commanding lead, as the clock speed increases and 2 more cores go quite a long way based on all the gaming results where the 9700K is quite close to the 9900K...

What’s the rest of the pc spec and what resolution do you game at? Remember a lot of these reviews use a high end gpu and run a low resolution like 1080p to maximise the difference between CPU’s. Often this doesn’t reflect the average gaming system and the difference the average gamer will see.

Sigs show if ya rotate the phone. I didn't know about it, learnt it from Colif. But do agree, it's courteous to include specs anyway.

That gpu and RAM (Assuming 2x8gb and not 1x16gb) should be strong enough to utilise the extra performance from a 9700k. The 9700k should stay viable longer as we are seeing the i5’s with only 6 threads being pushed very hard and sometimes suffer with poor frame time variances. I think it could be worth it in the long run even if the bump in performance is moderate today. It should help in COD, the others not so much.

You can, that’s up to you. Usually Intel prices don’t drop by too much when the new gen comes out as there is still demand for the from people running motherboards that don’t support the new generation.

Waiting for 10th gen could be a good idea because afaik, Intel are putting Hyperthreading on all it's upcoming i3/i5/i7 cpus. Would rather multithreaded cores these days.
