Question i5-9400F vs ryzen 5 2600

So, atm i have:
PSU - FSP Hexa 500 (AXE500)
RAM - 8gb kingston
MB - Asus P8Z68-V LX
CPU - i5 2500K with MSI Core Frozr L radiator and cooler
GPU - MSI GeForce GTX 1060 Gaming X 6GB
Which one will be better for 1080p gaming paired with 1060? Not looking for OC. And need budget motherboard and RAM for it.

About US$4 less for the 9400F which has better gaming performance. However, the Ryzen has 12 threads @3.4 GHz as opposed to 6 threads @2.9GHz and much better workstation performance according to UserBenchmark. Since the Intel one is a 2019 model and the AMD one is a 2018 model, you'd assume the 9400F is better

Budget wise, the 9400F wins for what you want, definitely.

As for Motherboards... You'll have to check the compatibility lists for the models you're eyeing for it, but I can give you a couple I personally like that DO support it:

• Asus PRIME H370-A/CSM
• Asus PRIME B360M-K
• Asus PRIME B365M-A

They all need the latest BIOS, but support the CPU in all revisions.

If you are comfortable changing about 5 setting in the Bios and stress testing afterwards the 2600 is a better buy. I'd wait a couple months for ryzen 3000 before upgrading. Even if 3000 isn't a significant leap forward the 1st and 2nd gen ryzen stuff will be dirt cheap(er) in 2 or 3 months. 1st gen ryzen is a better buy right now especially if you live near a Micro Center.
