[SOLVED] i5 9600k 90-100% usage on low graphic settings

Hello,

I built my pc about 4 months ago and while playing some games im hitting around 90-100% cpu usage pretty much all the time, even on low graphic settings. I was wondering if anyone knows any way to help reduce cpu usage or any ideas to help fix this problem.

I have updated all my drivers, i checked my BIOS to make sure my cpu is running at its correct clock/speed. I have also check for malware.

All help / ideas are welcome

PC components

CPU: i5 9600k
GPU: 2070 super
MB: msi meg ace z390
RAM: corsair 16gb 3200
Memory: 1tb ssd
PS: corsair 850+ gold

low graphics settings allows even higher throughput in the GPU, which increases load on the CPU....

In any event, the 9600K has but 6 threads, and, will have high CPU usage...(but still decent framerates, barring any attempted livesteaming)

If you want low cpu usage, go for 4K max graphics and you will see low cpu usage , 100% GPU usage but low framerate.

Thank you for getting back to me! through doing research I kinda knew that 6 threads still isnt the "best" for gaming and that I would have high cpu usage. Just didnt think it would be pushing close to 100%.

But you learn something new everyday. I didnt know that lower settings puts more strain on the cpu, but it does make sense since its not making my gpu work.

I'll give that a try. thanks for the suggestion. id rather have close to 100% gpu usage over cpu

Honestly i would prefer cpu close to 100% but have the desired framerate, your choice. In my case i target 163 fps in any game, even if i push my cpu to its limit, and i do, in some games i have cpu to 80-85% and gpu to 30-50%.
