[SOLVED] I5-9600k to I9-9900k, can only access bios.

I just swapped my 9600k to a 9900k and now I can't get past the startup screen. It allows me to use the bios though. Any thoughts on why this is happening?

There is 17 BIOS version over this one and the one needed to run the 9900K is minimum the 1005.

I'm even surprised your 9600K is working fine with that BIOS version since it says that a 9600K needs 1003 (1003 doesn't even exist in the BIOS versions list. Weird)

Yes. I would not try to update the BIOS with the 9900K. You don't want your system to be unstable while you update your BIOS.

I forgot to tell you that I checked the BIOS page for your board and the BIOS versions does not need you to install a earlier version before some new version. You can directly update your BIOS to the latest one.

Sometime some board will require you to install a version before a new one. This is not the case with this one so you're fine with going with 1802 directly.

Just the BIOS. If the firmware needed to be updated it would have been said in the BIOS descriptions. Something like "Update something before updating to this bios Version".

None of the 17 other versions over yours is saying anything about that. You're ok to update to 1802 without doing anything else.

I went and got a USB drive and updated my bios, put the 9900k in and it works. Thanks for the help!
