i5 Cpus that are compatible with an alienware 0pgrp5 motherboard?

So right now I have an alienware x51 not sure what model but it currently has an nvidia gtx 745 and a i3-4150 cpu and I want to upgrade the cpu but not sure what i5 processors are compatible with the motherboard.

Per Dell the best i5 is a 4460 (you have the R2 not the R1).

Yes that is my system! except mine had 8gb ram.

Would I need to get a high quality cpu cooler if I upgrade or is the current cooler good enough for an i5?

The cooler in it is designed to run the CPUs at their stock settings, it is probably the same in all X51 R2 models. You can add a better cooler if you want but it will have to be a low profile cooler.
