I am going to be getting an Intel Core i5-4460 with the GTX 750 Ti and 8GB of RAM. I was thinking of possibly getting the Intel Core i3-4170 if the i5 would not be good with the 750 Ti. What I would like to know is, would the i5-4460 be a good pair with the 750 Ti? Will there be any issues with the two, or should I just go with the i3-4170? I am just going to be playing games like Skyrim, Tomb Raider, CS:GO, and other less demanding games. I will be upgrading in the future, so pleas do not recommend any other parts, this is not what I am asking help for. Thank you to anyone that can help!

there are much better gpu's for the money over a 750ti. considering this is a new build, i'd look at other options. you did not mention the power supply but unless it is from a pre-built system, it should be able to handle a better card.

750ti is good for low power upgrades and unless you're getting the absolute cheapest 750ti out there, i see r9-370's for similar prices and it is a better card. at the top end of the 750ti prices you are in gtx 950 range which is a ton better such as this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127904&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker,%20LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

Well, the i5 is obviously better than an i3, but with a 750 ti I doubt you'll notice much difference. You'd probably get better results by getting an i3 and spending the money you saved on a better GPU. But if you're planning on upgrading your GPU later on anyway, the i5 will probably last you longer.

i5-4460 > i3-4170 by far.

GTX 750 Ti although a gaming-grade card is comparably weak while the i5-4460 will barely bottleneck the GTX 980 Ti (the most powerful gaming GPU as of right now).

Are you building a PC yourself? If so, what is your budget for the build? I would recommend going with Skylake with you care about upgradability.

I am using my phone so for some reason there is no reply button. But since the i5 is more powerful than the 750 Ti, wil there be any issues or no? I know I won't have any bottlenecks because that is when the CPU isn't keeping up with the GPU, but would there be anything else or not? And if I were to go with the i3, which GPU would you recommend with it, preferably nvidia? And I do plan to upgrade the 750 Ti later on if I go with it.

That's a tough call. Because the i3 has higher clock speeds and single thread performance, it might actual be a little better in most games. The 4460 will do better in more CPU and memory dependent games. If you're on a tight budget, there's no reason why you can't use the 4170.

I could try getting a 950 instead, but I did look up some benchmarks for games I plan to play using the 750 Ti and the results seem great to me. I am building the pc myself too.
