Hey guys.
I'm trying to pick the right CPU for my upcoming gaming/workstation build and I'm unsure whether I should pick the i7 or the i5. I work as a freelancer / so I do tons of rendering of multitasking projects, running several demanding softwares simultaneously. I also game quite a bit (well when I have time for it that is) so gaming performance is also important for me.
I wonder if an non k i5 would suffice, or a non OC i7 would be a better option for a gaming/rendering combo? I'm also hoping to buy a CPU that will last me for the next 3 years. Unfortunately an i7 6700k is out of my budget.
I want to buy i7 6700 + asus b150 aura + 16gb corsair veangence ddr4 lpx+ msi gtx960( i already have this gpu)

well why I showed the asrock ?? new 1151 supports i5 -i7 and xeon ? you got a wider choice of chips

http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Fatal1ty%20E3V5%20Performance%20GamingOC/?cat=CPU

only thing is it don't support NVidia sli but looking at the board you posted it don't as well ?? [I think now only ''z'' boards do ]

will support AMD x-fire

look over other brands C232 chipset 1151 boards and see what that may also offer

and to be honest skylake sucks -- think limited cpu support limited chips to choose from -- may not accept any thing but windows 10 - usb support removed -- and so on .. you don't have any of that with a haswell ?? whay so hand tied ...

this xeon version is almost same price as the i7 6700 in my country 25 usd difference ! Please help me with the new line ups with ddr4 rams .

Not really. If you compare the Xeon 1240v5 (no IGP) against the 1245v5 (IGP enabled), there is only a $12 difference on Intel's MSRP tray prices between the two.

Out of the $53 tray pricing difference between the 1230v5 and i7-6700, $41 is simply extra gouging.

I would be highly obliged if u guys suggest me with the new line ups ! Please tell me i7 6700 + asus b150 aura + 16gb corsair lpx ddr4 is good combo for rendering , multithreading and gaming ? or i should go for i5 6600 +asus b150 aura + 16gb corsair lpx ddr4 ? . :)

a haswell cpu list for example

then look at any skylake 1151 cpu list ?? really ?? come on..
