im going to be upgrading my i5 750 to either an i7 2600 or an i5 2500 which one should be better for csgo? i could try to get an i7 3770 aswell

Solution
I7-3770 is better than I5-4460.
Remember that I5-4660 is Haswell 4 gen and it uses other mobo than 2 & 3 gen.

All of them CPU are enough for gtx 1050 2GB.
Can you tell us what graphics card you have installed (or plan to install)? Your especifications?

The I7-3770 is the best. Then the I7-2600 and finally the I5-2500. The difference is small between them. Nor is it a great improvement over what you have.

It is a problem that the mobo must update. The few new ones that you can use are overvalued and the second hand ones can fail at any time.

The I7 that they mention are also overvalued. What prices are we talking about?

Do you know if your mobo can withstand the Xeon X3470? It's not as powerful as the I5-2500 but I think it's cheap.

With a hyper212, your best OC will be @4.2-4.4GHz depending on the cpu. You should be somewhere around 1.108v-1.216v which is lower than default auto voltage, but temps will be higher because of clock speeds. You could push higher clocks, but you'll start to see less gain from speed vrs temps going up as that cooler starts topping out in ability.

For just cs:go and other games like it, the 3570k is better than the i7-3770, just on clock speeds ability to push higher IPC. However, in overall ability, if you branch out to other games like WoW or gta5 or the Battlefield series, the multiple threads afforded the i7 will show better results.

Hyper212 is better than arctic 33 by a good margin.

Best would be an i7-3770K for sure.

Generally with Ivy-Bridge, on any decent mobo, you should be able to set 42/43 on the multiplier and lock all the cores and leave everything else at factory default settings. Once you start in on @4.3/4.4+ you'll need to start tinkering with power/eco settings etc
