I7 130w vs 95w

hello all ..........
sorry to ask a stupid question, but i am unable to figure it out.
i am planing to build a new pc using EVGA E758-A1
with a i7 (i7-960 Bloomfield 3.2GHz) and its 130w.
now mys question is does the motherboard support 130w cpu ?
and what is the difference between 130w vs 95w cpu?

Dont get an i7-960, its more expensive and wont give you enough of a performance boost over the 930 to justify the cost, especially when a $40 cooler will let you OC the the 930 well past it.

The 95W i7s are on the LGA 1156 socket, while the 130W ones are on LGA 1366, the wattage rating tells you their power consumption and expected heat output, higher numbers mean more power used and more heat created. The E758-A1 will support all of the LGA 1366 processors which are all 130W.

If you want to run a i7-9xx you will need a LGA1366 motherboard.
If you want a i7-8xx you will need a LGA1156 mobo.
That's enough. Very simple.

Go with the i7 920/930 and good mobo/cooling. A little OC will give you much more performance than even a stock i7 960.

And like has been said, any 1366 socket motherboard will support all of those CPUs (i7 9xx).

If you choose a LGA1366 mobo, buy a i930 definitely.

now my last question b4 i hit order lol
how hard is it to oc a 930 on air?
is it as simple as moving a bar up and down ..or typing in the number you want it to go ? do i need software?
(all i want is a 3.0-3.x) anything higher than a 3.0

There is a guide in the overclocking forums on this site check it out. Its really simple especially since you are staying at a low overclock its as simple as changing a few settings in the bios and your done. 4ghz ir relatively easy on that chip you just need a good cooler and read this.

i am a big asus fan (3 asus build and all of them are still kicking )
now i am paling to go with EVGA E758-A1
but i found Asus P6X58D Premium ....sure its more money but since i am saving on the cpu by going for the 930 instead of the 960 i can spend a little more on memory and other.
i have read that the asus moth. are coming defective (not posting) out of the box.

do any one suggest Asus P6X58D Premium over EVGA E758-A1 ...they both do crossfire and sli...and the asus has Supports Intel Turbo Boost Technology (turbo boost????)

Don't get an i7 960, overpriced.

There's only 2 i7's worth buying:
~$249 = i7 920 quad core @ 2.66GHz
~$279 = i7 930 quad core @ 2.8GHz

If you're an enthusiast willing to spend $1000 on a cpu, the only CPU worth buying at the moment is the i7 980x hexacore (6 cores)

Both are excellent mobos, but I would choose the Asus one. Impressive.
