I'm considering buying a gaming desktop for 4K gaming, VR gaming on the HP Reverb G2, possibly working in the Unity game engine, and some other software development. I'm hoping to make this Desktop last 6 or 7 years, possibly with a GPU upgrade and RAM capacity upgrade halfway through that time.
Things I have narrowed down:
CPU: Intel 13600k or 13700k
RAM: 32GB (Should I go with DDR4 or DDR5?)
SSD: 2TB PCIe 4.0 SSD (I thought I should go with PCIe 4.0 to take advantage of DirectStorage that might be coming to games in the near future, or should I just choose a PCIe 3.0 SSD instead?)
GPU: From what I understand of VR gaming, I will need at least an RTX 3080 for the games I want to play.
Case: I like these two cases because they have been rated highly in this video from Gamers Nexus(

I'd like an optical drive too, though it doesn't need to be anything fancy.
I'm looking forward to your advice and build suggestions. Thanks!

Are you buying a monitor: Yes / No
Yes, I need two monitors actually.
Parts to Upgrade: I don't currently own any parts for the actual Desktop.
Do you need to buy OS:
Yes. I want Windows 11 Home.
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg, Amazon
