Question I7 13700k overheating

Hello.

I have been having overheating problems with my i7-13700K, so I would like to ask if there is anything I can do to know the root cause,
First here is my spec:
CPU:I7 13700K
MOBO: Z790 Aorus elite ax rev 1.1 DDR5
GPU: 4070TI Gigabyte
Water Cooling: MSI mag coreliquid 360r v2
what I have done recently:
Update the bios to the latest version 'FJh', the problem did't occurs the day I did this update
Update the latest intel driver Intel® Arc™ & Iris® Xe Graphics
the problem occurs after few days from updating the intel graphic.
so while gaming some video game ' pubg' I notice that I have some fps drop and the game is not smooth.
I checked the CPU temp I found it goes crazy to 100C,I runned some stress test using cinebench multicore, the temperature instantly goes to 99 100 after running the test,
What I have for now:
downgrade the bios to the oldest version= Same thing even if resetting to default setting
downgrade the intel driver graphic= same problem
Checked the water cooling by touching both flexible which I feel the water goes in and out hot and normal water (I don't know if the other one should be could)
Could you please advise what can I do?

Edit: The pc is still new for almost 8 month​

Hey there,

Well, your PL1 and PL2 settings are quite high. In fact insanely high. Your processor is just drawing as much as power as it wants.

You can manually set the PL1/PL2 values in the bios. Change them to 125w pl1, and 253w pl2. And test again. Note the max clock speeds, and if you lose performance.

It is possible that the cooling performance of the version 2 replacement coolers also degrades over time. Your P cores are near the 100°C thermal throttling temperature when power consumption is only 123.5W. The cooler is either inadequate, was not installed properly, or it has failed. Some thermal pastes will degrade when subjected to continuous 100°C temperatures so consider replacing that first.

You can try using a negative offset undervolt of -50 mV to -100 mV for the core and P cache. This can help reduce heat output significantly. You will need to run a variety of games and stress tests when undervolting to make sure your CPU is still 100% stable.

Your turbo power limits are presently set to unlimited which is great for maximum performance as long as you have adequate cooling but your MSI Mag cannot dissipate the amount of heat this creates.

You would need to limit both power limits to 125W. That is all your MSI Mag AIO can handle. Most people that buy unlocked K series CPUs and spend the money on high end components are going to be pretty disappointed with performance if they can only run their Intel CPU at the 125W base power rating.

please note that these problem was recently, I have been playing for almost 7 months without any fails like these without and overclock or undervolting, Why would I undervolt my CPU if I was running it normal before.
also I can try to undervolt it but I haven't find the PL1 and pl1 or any parameter related to CPU power management,
do you know how to do it from GCC or from aorus gigabyte bios ??

The Version 2s were supposed to have fixed the QC issues Version 1 had, but if the radiator is still being installed in the roof of the case, the pump is still going to get harmed through air exposure, running dry and hot.
Pump in radiator units should only be installed vertically if you want them to last.

I think is not possible for me since I have Cooler Master MasterCase H500P Mesh ARGB
however I have undervolt the CPU and still the same using 125W and 253W on PL1 and PL2, @Roland Of Gilead what can you advise ?

I used to use the RGB version of that case, and it absolutely does support 360mm rads at the front - running a dual AIO setup, both are 360mm.

Rpm doesn't say much. The pump can be running that fast while the microfins of the cold plate or some other section of the loop is clogged or has blockage. OR, the pump can be running like that while within an air pocket - the coolers aren't completely topped off with fluid to avoid bursting, and air hangs around the highest point of the loop. Air volume gradually increases over time.

Proper loop flow is when both hoses feel similar. If it's a clear night and day difference, something's wrong.

Your cooler is dead or not installed properly. You are thermal throttling at 105 watts, lol. A 20$ cheap air cooler can handle that.

thank's everyone for the answer, and yes it was the cooler after replacing with arctic 240 it's seem to have good result.
Good to know that MSI are not the good brand for the cooler...

It's not so much the brand. Another company(the OEM/ODM) makes these coolers, and Msi isn't the only company with pump in radiator AIOs available, which the majority spouts off that roof mount is the only way to install an AIO rad.
