Hi i have just bought a i7 2600 cheaper that a i52500k is the i7 good enough for gaming at high end level

my system will be

i7 2600
8gb ram 1333mhz
two nividia gtx550tis sli mode
1000w power supply
250gig hdd for windows + ssd 32gig to do intel smart response tech
500gb sata drive for games
80gig hard drive for wow and diablo3 and guild wars
and i midi atx case with 4 big fans
and would some seperate hard drive cooling be recomended at all many thanks john

you will see no benefit over a 2500k as the extra threads on the 2600 will not be used anyway as no game is optimised for it will be good if you do video editing.

As for the hdd cooling just make sure you have good air flow through your case and it will be fine :)

The CPU is plenty.

Your 550ti's (even two in SLI) will be your weakest link for gaming. Should perform about like a single 560ti. (or little better) Not "bad", but the CPU can handle more GPU power for sure.

I know lol i do plan on upgrading one card to a gtx590 though and dedicate the one 550ti to physix
