I7 2600K - My first OC

I am currently running a Prime95 test of my first OC and had a quick question. Right now I'm running at 4.00 GHz with my core voltage manually set to 1.165 V. My temps have been steady around 52-55C and things are going pretty well. My question is that CPUZ is telling me that my Core voltage is 1.160 V and it fluctuates up to 1.168. Is this normal? Is this part of Vdroop? I just want to be sure the changes in my core voltage aren't a problem.

Yeah, that's Vdroop working. In my experience, with Turbo on, the voltages seem to go up higher for some reason. a fluctuation of .008 V should be all right.

Depending on the settings you choose the voltages and the speed of your processor will change. For instance I have mine set to a 4.3 ghz maximum but will go idle at 1.6 ghz and the voltage will drop below 1.0.

Based on the numbers you provided it sounds like you are good to go, temps are fine, voltage is fine, I'd say no concerns for you at the moment.

Just keep the temps under 90 (even the 80's scares me personally but I know it shouldn't) and voltage under 1.4

Thanks for the input everyone. I did come across a problem though. After running a blend test in Prime95 for 2 hours with no issues I went back into BIOS and bumped by RAM timings from 1333 to their specified timings of 1600. I ran Large FFTs in Prime95 this time and when I checked on things after 30-45 min I found that my computer had shut itself off. I didn't think that increasing my memory to the factory speeds would be an issue. Any thoughts on why this would have happened? Is this a vcore issue? I've seen suggestions for an increase in VCCIO but I'm hesitant to start tinkering with them. Any thoughts/suggestions would be much appreciated.

Maybe your RAM calls for additional voltage. Is it 1.5V? I checked the website for that specific model, and it does say that the RAM needs 1.5V, but check your modules as well just to be sure.

Try running memtest86+ and see if it throws up any errors. Also, try running it at the 2600K's stock clocks.

It's probably 1.60V RAM, try setting that voltage. Easier still the motherboard supports X.M.P., you could set it to Profile 1 and the readjust your CPU overclock if it resets the turbo multiplier.

I own the same board and same CPU.
