Well, i want to wait to Pascal GPU to buy a new one GPU, but i dont know if my I7-2700k can hold it.

I dont want to buy a 970GTX because i think this GPU year its finish, so its so late to buy one...

What u recommend me?

I dont want to buy new PC (motherboard, cpu, ram, etc etc...) still...

You think my best option is buy one 970GTX (i have a 680GTX) or you think i can wait and stand for the new GPU Pascal and hold it.

Thanks.

First of all, your CPU is VERY good even though it's a bit old. It falls just slightly behind the newer i7's, and if you overclock your CPU, it will be a beast.

Second of all, if you game at 1080p, then upgrading from GTX 680 to GTX 970 would be very stupid because both of the cards destroy any game you play at that resolution. Even if you play at 1440p, the cards are ROUGHLY equal with no SIGNIFICANT difference.

If you want a REAL upgrade, you should be either waiting for the new Pascal next year (if you play 1440p hardcore, or 4K) or buy GTX 980 Ti if you play at 4K or want ultra settings at 1440p

Cheers :)

should google around gtx 900 with something like z68 and see there has been compatibility issue with some new cards and older chipsets and what may or may not work out ??

thing is to besure your board gets fresh bios updates that give support for new cards - also the card manufactures may of now seen all that and the card in the 900 line may have better revised v-bios on them today to help resolve these issues with the older chipset boards

just to show and point this out you can only do the homework on the rest and what you want to do

good luck

Damn i put in the "Solved button" but im still asking, how can change it? XD.

I play always 1080p, why its not worth play in 1080p with a 680/970? I play always in full ultra, but in example, "The witcher 3" i play it in medium, but i want to play it in full ultra, and the next gen games.

My next buy too its a 144HZ monitor, so hmmm, its worth to wait Pascal? How much need a OC my CPU to hold it?

Oh wait, i have a P8Z68 Deluxe edition, can´t hold the PCI2.0 ?

Now i have a problem, my Motherboard is a P8Z68deluxe with PCI2.0...so...i read how much ppl have problems with this old sockets (LG1155, hate they dont make more motherboards.) and in my country (Spain) can´t buy a PCI3.0 motherboard...

I used my i5 2320 with a GTX 970 until I upgraded the CPU/Motherboard, had no issues at all, if you do have issues, a BIOS update would probably sort it.

My question is, P8z68-Deluxe with pci-e2.0 people have problems with it and the 980.
If i waiting for a Pascal, maybe bottleneck with i7-2700k Or my motherboard for a PCI2.0?

Edit1: i find 2 vídeos where test a 970 and at 2k res drop 2/3fps only with the 2.0...

Sorry my bad english..

2.0 is sufficent for any current single GPU, the same with 3.0 x8.

the 2.0 slot is not a issue look at amd boards like there AM3+ platfoprms still come today with 2.0 its if your board and cards bios's are compatible

at first you seen a few of this issue but today the boards manufacture should of released a bios for the cards or the cards bios has been updated from any first release type to help resolve that issue

but still no guarantees and that's something we all face with any parts

just to be extra safe buy the card from a place that has a good return/exchange policy if it was to be needed
