Hi
I am about to upgrade my CPU.

I will go from:
Core i5 3470S 65W Ivy Bridge 2.9GHz 6MB LGA

To a i7 3770 (which I know fit my motherboard)

My question is:
Since I currently have an "S" processer, can I change to an non "S" processer?
I have the below 2 options and the non S I can get cheaper, and it is faster.

1) Core i7 3770 77W vPro Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz 8MB 4c LGA GT2
2) Core i7 3770S 65W Ivy Bridge 3.1GHz 8MB LGA

The power usage are higher on the non S. But I changed the PSU = power concumption is no problem.
But are there anything else that will give me problems? (can see the S have LGA at the end of the name and the non S have GT2, is that a problem?

Hope you can help me

Best regards

Solution
Do not worry You can use both indistinctly. They are practically the same processor but one has a slightly lower TDP because it has a lower base speed.

However, the turbo boost speed is the same 3.9GHz.

The difference of 12W is very small. Do not worry about the increase in power.

Buy the cheapest one.
