i7-3770 vs i5-4440

Can't choose what to buy (used):
i7-3770 + http://www.findlaptopdriver.com/mainboard-lenovo-cih61mi-specs-v1-1/ + Intel box fan
OR
i5-4440 + ASUS Z87M Plus + Deepcool Gammaxx S40
Prices are not much different..
Please help

To be frank, that Lenovo motherboard is crap, and putting a 3770 on it is like putting a jet engine on a Vespa; huge power bottle-necked by skinny tyres.

What do you use your PC for? If it's for gaming, then the i5 combo would be better, but the motherboard and cooler are overkill.

not a very good mobo, but the 3770 is a much better CPU than the 4440. If you can get a Z77 motherboard for the 3770 then I would go for that. the 3770 (non k) can be overclocked to 4.1Ghz, just by bumping the multiplyer x4.

For gaming, yeah. I'd like to pair it with GTX 970 or something like that.

The ideal solution would be to get the 3770 with a better motherboard or the 4440 with a worse motherboard. By "worse" I mean lower-spec, not outright rubbish.

If you have to choose one of the two combos, then the 4440 would be my choice for a gaming PC.
