I have an optiplex 9010 it has i7 3770

One day i couldn't start my pc then i knew it was from the motherboard i ordered intel h61

But my friend said the h61 chipset can't handle the i7 3770?

Is he right? Or how much of what he sai is right? And should i cancel my shipment?

well yes and no. dependiong on the BIOS of the motherboard it may or may not work. and I think this is what your friend is trying to warn you about, as officially : Some Intel H61 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Ivy Bridge CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions.

so which motherboard where you looking at (make and model)?

May not work with my cpu and i need lesser version of cpu to run the motherboard and update the bios? Im a correct

And should i ask the seller any thing to make sure

Btw thx for reply

1. I would not buy an OEM no brand name motherboard that makes claims to support a cpu that may require a bios update without know the namebrand and web site where you can get the bios from to upgrade it.

2. Sure its "possible" the bios is already upgraded and will work fin with your 3rd gen cpu.. its "possible" the bios is up to par. but without a web site to refer to its a crap shoot.

3. close scrutiny of the board (and this is assuming the photos reflect the actual hardware you will be sent I found a "ZX-H61CM v1.31" but the cpu slot

A quick google of the number discovered reveals;
Quickly I find on Toms hardware web site someone like you that purchased it, and found out the hard way he needs a bios update to used it, and discovered there is no way to get it updated. https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/trying-to-upgrade-an-unknown-h61-mobo.3332722/

All in all its is LIKELY the bios has already been updated to support your 3770.

Would I buy it.. no I would not.

But would find a B75, Z77 or Q77 motherboard listed here on ebay : like this board for 20$ less than your offering: ASUS B75M-A, LGA 1155, Intel Motherboard for 31$

You are realy someone with knowledge
I taught about it and i'll buy new one
Look if you have 100$ budget to buy (motherboard lga 1155 MicroATX) i mean if you where in my shoes what is the best 1155 will you get for ur 3770 because i have now 100$ if you can give me the link of the deal from well known sites like amazon. Newegg. Maybe ebay

I'll return the one that i purchased
And i need a ( new motherboard 1155 microATX) i don't have to use all my 100 on this but if i need to pay 100 for it i will
So pleae give me offers for my situation and i surly will order them :)

You can find plenty of Asus P8Z77s motherboards used in Ebay or elsewhere for under 80 $. One of the best 1155 motherboards out there. I used to have H61long time ago paired with my i7 3770. While it worked, the poor vrms it integrates would overheat and throttle the processor's speed. It's been so many years i am using the P8Z77 V LE Plus while overclocking my cpu past 4.3 ghz without any issues. Z chipset will overclock even locked processors up to a point (+ 4 bins as intel describes)
P.S.: P8Z77s are not Micro ATX, rather ATX
