I7-3770 with GTX 1070 Ti?

Follow up question, if I may - I have the same cpu and am looking to upgrade from a GTX 650 ti boost to either a 1070 ti or 1080. After OC'ing, I am told that the 1070 ti will be about the same performance as the 1080....no?
I do plan on updating the cpu ++ next year, after the new AMD cpus are shipping.

The question is if I should spring for the 1080 or be ok with the 1070 ti

For both underspy101 and vwcrusher, the more pertinent question is probably: What resolution and max refresh rate is your monitor?

If it's 1920x1080 and maxes out at 60Hz, then a 1070 is more than sufficient.

If we're talking higher resolutions and/or refreshes, then it's a different ballgame.

Ah...sorry about that.
Current monitor is 2560 x 1440 60Hz IPS screen.
I may upgrade that as well though...so I am thinking in terms of some future proofing.

Thanks

Before we go further,
there is this thumb rule about the performance difference between 1070, 1070ti and 1080.
1070 = 100%
1070ti = 107%
1080 = 115%
This is not very accurate but it should more or less represent the thumb rough comparison.

an OCed 1070 and 1070ti, if you get a good chip, you can go near 1080.
1080 can still be OCed too tho' hehehehehehe...

For 1440p 60hz monitor, 1070 should be already ok.
Some small future proofing, yes, 1080 should be better.
Is it worth the extra cash? it depends on how much you are paying extra for it.
