I tried to overclock my i7-3770k to 4.0 GHz, because I recently installed a Cooler Master Nepton 140XL closed loop. I ran Prime95 Small FFTs. Within a few seconds, Core 2 went up to 75C. Core 3 was the coolest at 67C.

I tried remounting the water block and reapplying thermal paste to no avail. Is my water cooler faulty?

Hi, prime really stresses your cpu more than any over application ever will in normal everyday usage. The mid 70's is not that high when running prime. I always say test it like you plan to use it. If it's a gaming rig then check cpu temps after a few hours of game play.

That is completely fine especially if it's the newest prime 95 v. Did those others have a superior cooling system?
