Dear Community,

My little i7 3770k and h100i corsair water cooler has been going now for some years. However I have recently found that my temperature is very hot or atleast that's what it says on Speccy and HWMonitor. So here's what i've done so far to try and resolve this issue.

1. Cleaned the entire pc, dust free!
2. Re-applied thermal compound.
3. Made sure all of the screws are tightly fitted.

I am out of ideas, and I am open for all suggestions.

It could be the thermal compound under the lid. I just delided my i7-3770 and my temps went down about 12C. The compound inside was very dry and didn't have good contact to the lid.

Uploaded a few images of my system, I want to make sure that my fans are pointing the right direction, I believe they are.. it's just that these fans dont have any arrows indicating otherwise.
Thanks for all the suggestions guys!

I presume you have a little touch of the pumps to make sure it's pumping? If so I can indeed feel they are moving. Slowly.

Can you please elaborate for me on this part: "very dry and didn't have good contact to the lid."

So this is not for the faint of heart and probably the last resort you want to go to if you can confirm nothing else is wrong with your cooling.

Your CPU consists of the CPU itself (green part with the pins on bottom) and the lid (silver part glued to top). Intel puts thermal between the CPU and it's lid but they do a poor job on some CPUs and there is a big gap between the lid and the cpu core itself.

A solution to this is to remove the lid, clean off the black silicone and old thermal compound and then apply new compound as well as optionally glue it back shut.

This is an example of what I'm talking about:

There are plenty of videos that show you how to do it if you look it up. Ideally a specific tool made for this works best but I've seen people just do it with a vice with no issues.

I highly advice against following that tutorials that tell you to use a razor, done improperly you can damage the CPU. Also be 100% sure you understand what you are doing if you choose to go this route.

Yeah again this is last resort stuff if you can confirm everything else is fine.

Are you overclocking? What voltage/speed?

Do you maybe have the stock heat-sink to try just to make sure something is not wrong with the water cooler?

Currently using the H100i GTX from corsair. I have not tinkered with any overclocking of the cpu or any voltages.
I do not have the stock cooler, instead however.. I do have my evo 212 I could try and find.

Interesting.. I have a h100i GTX (16 mounths old)on my 6700k and I have the same problem latetly. Came sudden. High40 idle even 100°c during unigine heaven test and its on dead stock 3.98ghz.
Try to move your radiator while pc is on. You might have some air bubbels. Did not solve mine but lets hope you would be luckier!
Whats the fan speed?

Thanks for the suggestions mate! I do not know as I have never been able to customize the fan speed.. due to my lack of learning with the mobo and my corsair speed controller thingy... So I guess it's at default? Either way I've never had this problem at all until recently (1 month) so it wouldnt make a difference?
