240GB SSD & RX580 4GB Nitro for an upgrade for my son. I cant push for a DDR4 machine with say a Ryzen so its going to have to go into one of the machines below

He is currently using the FX8350 2133Mhz AMD R9 gaming Ram x 8GB sticks of DDR3 but I have an old the i7-3770S Hyper Fury 1600Mhz DDR3 be any faster

The I7 looking at benchies should be faster but board max is 1600Mhz so cant swap the ram but would the faster ram make the difference that much ? CL higher on it to the Fury's 1600

Be cheaper on my electric bill with the I7 due to the lower power draw but want him to get the best gaming performance he can tbh.

I don't want to go about swapping cards and ssd's about as its as its a birthday surprise but any info would be great.

Solution
I was kinda thinking that, but he likes to display the FPS he's playing and its one of those things where they like to see higher number its that 60fps mark.
Well the i7 3770S is about as fast as a Ryzen 5 1600 (not the newer AF model), so it's not like it's totally obsolete. An RX 580 and that i7-3770S should be capable of 60-100fps in many games with medium to high+ settings. You're probably more limited by the GPU than the CPU in many games, but it really depends on the game.

For most games, you won't see much more than 5-7fps difference with DDR3 1600 vs 2133. Don't worry about it. There are very few games where having DDR3 2133+ will actually give up 10+fps.

Edit - Part of my reply got cut off when I clicked submit. The i7-3770S should be a bit faster than the FX 8350 in most games and obviously will use far less power. I would go with the i7 simply because of heat generated is far less than the FX 8350.
