i7-3820 or i7-4820k

I've already bought a LGA 2011 Motherboard linked below. I haven't bought the CPU yet but I'm either going to get the 3820 or 4820k. Will this mobo need BIOS flashed for the IB-E and can I do that if i buy the 4820k?

Yes but check anyway, usually there is a little sticker on the BIOS chip.

Yeah I just talked with an MSI tech about this because I'm in the same dilemma about which CPU to purchase and they said that motherboards manufactured on or after a certain date will be automatically updated with the latest BIOS revision, while boards manufactured before a certain date will not have the latest BIOS revision. Check before installation.

I was curious to know what you found out about the compatibility of the BIOS revision for the P9X79 LE with the intel core i7-4820K. I just purchased this motherboard on the 26th of Sept and hoping it has the latest BIOS version installed. My board does not have a sticker on the bios chip. However there is a white strip with bar code and numbers directly on the board located underneath the words "BIOS". I can't tell yet if it's a sticker as I have not removed it from the static wrap. However, the last set of numbers say "4005". Any help is appreciated, I'm kind of a newb with BIOS revisions for motherboard and processor. I have the 4820 and the P9x79 and hoping I don't have to flash anything.

I wasn't sure which BIOS my motherboard started with, but I connected power to the board, and uses the BIOS flashback feature. It was very easy and when i put my CPU in I've had no issues.

kwilmarth - Same here, just used BIOS flashback feature and worked like a charm - updated to the latest and no CPU issues so far. Works great.

I have 4 of the above for a total of 32 GB. They were on sale so it made it cheaper to by the individual 8GB sticks. Looking to add 4 more later on.
