Hi all

I had recently bought a i7-3930k and a ASRock Fatal1ty x79 Champion off a family member. So I went out and invested in the Cooler Master Seidon 120v v2 AIO liquid cooler which is in push factor. I reach about 37c at idle and 53c at full load, the load clock 3.8GHz (Boost) with 1.192v though VCore. I have overclocked it to 4.2GHz to get similar results as a stock 3930k (or so it says) and this is sort of worrying, with tem

My benchmark scores are as follows;

Program - score 1 / 2
Cinebench R15.0: 896 / 898
Geekbench 4: Single Core - 3364 / Multi Core - 14320

I have wiped and reapplied fresh thermal paste (Some left on it when I had it) and I have also tried swapping the pump and fan connectors around (Pump is in CPU FAN 2 and fan CPU FAN 1)
I have also tried connecting the pump to my fan controller to see if that helps but no avail, but I will try again now new paste etc is applied. The screws aren't too tight and can be unscrewed with some force by hand.

My overall system specs -
i7-3930k
ASRock Fatal1ty x79 Champion
Corsair Vengeance 16GB 4x4
MSI 7870 OC 2GB
780w PSU
2x256GB

Any ideas? I have read some reviews and people are getting in the 20s on idle and 40s on load and my scores are lower than they should be (I think).

UPDATE:

I overclocked it to 4.8GHz and is now running at 50c idle and 80c load with a scores of 940 on cinebench and 4411 single core and 18374 multi-core.

Thanks.

Solution
X79 CPUs run hot, especially OCd. Cooler to small is my guess for lower temps. These are 130W TDP at stock CPUs. I did check my score, it was 1113cb for Cinebench R15 @ 4.5Ghz.
I'll have to check later if I can, but I have some cinebench R15 scores saved from my X79 system. I have a 3930k as well, and when I was running my system at 4.5Ghz and memory at 2133, I believe I got around 1100cb on benchmark, not sure atm. Mine was under custom cooling loop.

I changed the thermal paste as it was some old Artic Silver with the stuff it came with and Im getting the same temps. I dont have a custom loops its an AIO Cooler Master Seidon 120 v2, not an expensive cooler but I was expending idle lower than 37c 🙁
