Hi, I have an i7 3930k running at stock temperatures no overclocking nothing. Only thing I did was add Artic Silver 5 thermal paste. My CPU cooler is the Corsair H100i and running Prime95 I hit 70c. Is that too hot specially with the h100i I had a h60 previously and it ran the same temperatures. Any help would be appreciated thanks

that seems high to me but i do not have closed loop system experience.

but as a reference i run the same temps with an i5 2500k @ 4.8MHz+ and overclocked RAM and internal overclock of igpu. all of that puts pressure on the thermals on the CPU. also I run 1.5volts on the CPU.

maybe you reseat it or you wait for your tim to "dry"

But yours is overclocked my RAM GPU CPU are all default clocks yet entire system runs hot it seems could I need to re apply thermal paste ? If so any good guides to do it please

Given the time of year, your temps sound normal to me. Try the double-line method
of applying the AS5, I find this works better than a single line.

Ian.

i keep my place pretty cool but i live in phoenix az and it has hit 130F out here. we are 100++ everyday. i cannot believe his cooler is much better than my CM hyper 212 and while i do have good case colling in my haf 912 i have to pushing allot more temps. my high temps are also taken while running prime 95 and running all four types of test and seeing what the highest temp i can get is, then i open other things while it running just to see.

What is your typical ambient room temp when running the tests? What CPU clock are you running at?

I'm using a Phanteks PH-TC14PE with 3 fans, CPU @ 4.7, 64GB DDR3/2400. With ambient room temp
of 27C, I get load temps of around 80C.

I have an older H100 on an i7 870, it gives load temps of about 75 with the CPU at 4.3.

I suppose what you could do is carefully remove the cooling block, see if the paste has spread
evenly across the chip. I've read on a forum recently that sometimes it's possible to attach these
blocks so they're not quite even in their mounting, though this was supposed to be more of an
issue with the normal H100.

Are you finding one core is a lot hotter than the others? Or are they all fairly similar?

Ian.

The Core i7-3930K is loading up at 70C? That sounds about right on an H100. The 3930K is a monster in terms of thermals. I have a customer loop with an Apogee HD Gold Plated Edition an MCR 320 radiator as well as an XSPC 2x 120mm Thick model. My CPU is clocked at 4.5GHz and I load at around 65-70C. I use only silent fans though.

But mine is stock at 3.2 GHz (3.8GHz turbo) which is why I don't think it's normal specially with the h100i

Mines 3.2GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) which is stock clocks running 70c under full load which is why I don't think it is normal temps and my room temp is around 68-70F as I live in San Diego California

Thanks, I am going to try it tonight and I'll tell you how it turns out !
