I7 3930k or I7 6700 (non K)

Im looking to build a decent I7 gaming PC and wanted to know what processor i should go with.

Will the I7 3930k be able to handle 970 in SLI or even a 1080?

Which one would be faster?

Also what motherboard does the I7 3930k fit it 😵? is it the same type as the 3960x?
