Question i7 4720HQ high temperatures and throttling.

Hi! I have an Asus ROG g771jw with an i7 4720hq and gtx 860 4gb. The problem is its temperature reaches even 70c idle and 90c on load if using without throttlestop but the graphics card it's ok, like its most 80c. The laptop has no ventilation underneath, no airflow, just a one-piece bottom. What could be the cause of overheating??

When's the last time you blasted the dust out of it?

I forgot to mention I have bought it used a few mounts ago. I have cleaned the fan, changed the thermal paste and nothing. But why just the CPU is so hot and not both the GPU and CPU?

Maybe you didn't apply the thermal paste or reassemble it properly. Dust caked inside heatsinks can also be very detrimental to heat dissipation, make sure if there are any, they are fully cleaned.

I assure you I have applied and reassembled it correctly. It's something I haven't seen before. I've read something that is could even be the heatsink (it has two arms, one for GPU and one for CPU) itself but I don't know why is that. Someone told me that the heatsink has some gas into that little copper pipes and maybe the CPU arm is cracked and lost its gas over time. I don't what to say about this theory but to hear your opinions!
