I7 4770 vs i7 4770k which one should I choose?

I want to get the i7 4770k but at my microcenter it's $270 and the i7 4770 is $230 at the microcenter. My main problem is that if I pick the i7 k I'll have to get a z87:z97 mobo which will be $60-$90 more so it'll add up to a very high price total. Is there enough of a difference between a non overclocked and a overclocked i7 to justify the extra $100+ more?

If your not concerned about overclocking get the 4770.

Honestly if you are into overclocking you should get 4770k. Overclocking will give you few more fps on cpu intensive games such as bf4, dayz mod, dayz standalone and arma 3. Regular 4770 perform exactly like 4770k but you won't able to overclock.

If you are not familiar to overclocking i suggest getting 4770. Overclocking also comes with a risk, if you overclock too much you can risk damaging your cpu.

^ x2. If you're not interested in overclocking and still want an I7, get the Xeon for $100 less. It's the same as an I7 without the integrated GPU (which is carp).

if you are into making youtube videos get I7 4770 or 4770k but don't get I7 4770 or 4770k just for gaming. If you are only into gaming get i5 4670k. They both perform similar in gaming. I7 processor is for video rendering and gaming. I5 is only for gaming.

Don't get Core i7 processors if you're only into gaming. These processors are purposely made for 3D modelling, video encoding and rendering. For gaming purpose, just stick with i5. Don't get an unlocked CPU, if you don't want to overclock.

Unless you can prove with actual game benchmarks that a $230 XEON CPU is superior to the i7-4770 don't even consider it.

The Xeon isn't superior to the i7-4770. That's not the point.

The reason you buy it is because it is essentially the same thing with a slighly lower clock, while it costs $60 less than the i7 and only $10 more than the i5-4670K. For the money, you can't beat it.

i7-4770K: If you want to overclock, +$50 on motherboard +$50 CPU cooler.

i7-4770: If you don't care and just want to save money. It's definitely not worth the extra $40 for the i7-4770K if you aren't going to overclock, either.

Xeon 1230v3: By far best deal if that sale at MicroCenter ends.

I'll admit I'm still doing some reading on this, I'm just saying there MAY be some issues that pop up. Might work great.
